Dan Aykroyd Confirms ‘Ghostbusters 3′ Casting Rumors

Source: slashfilm.com

“I ain’t ‘fraid of no ghost,” but I am afraid when more Ghostbusters 3 information comes out. Much like a fourth Indiana Jones film, Ghostbusters 3 is one of those projects I dreamed about as a kid but never thought I’d see happen. Yet with every rumor about a script, Bill Murray appearance and production start date, the 10-year-old in me begins to smile…and then worry that it’s going to be screwed up.

Well, add another bit of info to the ever-growing pile as co-writer, producer and star of the franchise, Dan Aykroyd was recently on a Chicago radio station and confirmed that not only is Ghostbusters 3 currently casting, but that several names are already “strong possibilities.” Find out exactly who after the jump.

Special Effects Wizard Alec Gillis on the Rebirth of ‘The Thing’

Source: fearnet.com

Makeup and visual effects maestro Alec Gillis is no stranger to alien invasions. An Oscar winner for his work on Starship Troopers, Gillis, along with his partner Tom Woodruff Jr., has also crafted effects for all but the first Alien films, along with Alien Nation, Skyline, and Invaders from Mars. Now Gillis is tackling what may be his toughest challenge yet – creating outrageous visuals for the upcoming prequel to John Carpenter’s The
Thing. I caught up with Gillis on the film’s Toronto set, where he told me, and a group of my fellow journos, how he feels about following Rob Bottin’s legendary work on Carpenter’s film, and what fans can expect when The Thing finally invades theaters next fall. Check out our full chat after the jump.

Do we ever see the Thing’s original form in this film? It was unrevealed in Carpenter’s film.

I think what’s important is that you never see the true form of this creature. What you see are two life forms that are close. We get to design a couple of alien life forms that are presumably evolved biologically on another planet that happen to be infected by the Thing.

Alternate Takes 11.27.10 – Possible Batman Movie Villains

Source: 411mania.com

The news came out last week that a group of actresses
were being interviewed to be a villain in the next Batman movie. Also, Tom Hardy was signed, also rumored to be a villain. It got me thinking of who should be a villain in a Batman movie, whether it is Chris Nolan’s next one or one down the road.

I’m sticking with villains that were not in the previous live-action movies, with the exception of one man who was mangled by Akiva Goldsman in Batman and Robin.

5. HUSH

Hush would be perfect for Christopher Nolan’s world of Batman. Hush is Thomas Elliot, a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. After Bruce’s parents were murdered, and Bruce inherited their fortune, Thomas decided he wanted the same thing and attempted to kill his own parents. His mother survived and, after years of watching her suffer, she finally died and he inherited their fortune. Hush blamed Wayne for everything that happened to him and swore to destroy him.

Who would play Thomas Elliot: This is the perfect role for Tom Hardy.

Apollo 18: First Poster and Official Website Launched

Source: scifimania.com

Just hours ago, we told you that Gonzalo López-Gallego (La piel azul) has taken over directorial duties from visual effects guru Trevor Cawood on Timur Bekmambetov‘s (The Darkest Hour) latest project, entitled Apollo 18. The films plot revolves around recently “found footage” shot by the crew of an abandoned moon mission that NASA claims never took place in the early 1970s. The lost footage reveals the existence of alien life and explains why NASA has hidden the evidence for all of these years.
