Joss Whedon Responds To ‘Buffy’ Reboot: ‘Leave Me To My Pain!’
“I’m glad you asked for my thoughts on the announcement of Buffy the cinema film,” Whedon wrote in an email to E! Online. “This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths — just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.”
He continued, “I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don’t love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I’m also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can’t wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill.
First Synopsis for UNDERWORLD 4: NEW DAWN
The plot for the fourth installment in the Underworld franchise has been revealed:
“After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.”
‘Hunger Games’ Movie Budget Revealed: $60 Million
Another young adult franchise on sale this year at AFM was Suzanne Collins’ books “The Hunger Games” which tells the story in a post-apocalyptic world where a replacement for the United States demands two children from each of its territories be used as gladiators in a televised fight to the death. Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) directs this $60M adaptation.
Percy’s “RED MOON” to rise on screen
The upcoming RED MOON will be hitting both media thanks to the recent acquisition of author Benjamin Percy’s book proposal by The Gotham Group.
Variety reports that Percy’s proposal, the subject of a fierce bidding war eventually won by Grand Central, was snapped up by Gotham after the production outfit was slipped a copy by Percy’s agent. The story takes place in an alternate society where lycanthropes live uneasily among humans, and an uprising by the hairy species develops into war between humans and beasts.
I 100% agree with Joss Whedon on the Buffy reboot. Do you agree/disagree with what he said?
I love Underworld and I was glad to hear Kate Beckinsale would return. I like the sound of the synopsis. What do you think of the synopsis? And who do you think should play Nissa?
$60m is a huge budget for Hunger Games. Do you think that’s a fair budget for what the film will entail?
