RUMOR: MEGAN GALE LEADING CANDIDATE FOR ‘WONDER WOMAN’

While there’s been a lot of discussion about where the Marvel Studios movies are headed in the next couple of years, there hasn’t been a lot of news about the future of the DC Comics franchise at Warner Brothers.

A few weeks ago, we reported that the studio has appointed Christopher Nolan to oversee the proposed reboot of the Superman movies and that we’ll get a new Batman film in the summer of 2012. It’s also been rumored that DC wants to get the long gestating Flash movie into production for that summer and the long in development limbo Wonder Woman movie is also part of the plan.

IMAX LEAKS HOBBIT RELEASE; ALSO NEW BATMAN, SUPERMAN?

Buried in a press release for IMAX and Warner Brothers is the news that The Hobbit now has a tentative release date: December 2013 (!). This even though producer Peter Jackson has said the movie doesn’t have an official green light.

The release also confirms that a third Batman film is slated for release between now and 2013, as well as a new Superman movie, the Mad Max sequel Fury Road and Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows.

To say that Robert Downey Jr. in currently one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood is a bit of an understatement – he’s set to return as Tony Stark in Iron Man 2 on May 7, he has a new comedy titled Due Date that’ll hit theaters this November, and he has two other big-budget 3D projects (Gravity and Sherlock Holmes 2) that are set to begin production later this year.

The popular actor found time recently – in the midst of the Iron Man 2 promotional campaign no less – to chat with Moviehole about some of his new and upcoming films.

MARC GUGGENHEIM HIRED BY WARNER BROTHERS TO WRITE SUPERNATURAL DAVINCI MOVIE AND THEIVES OF BAGHDAD

In March of this year we reported that Warner Brothers was ready to make a Leonardo DaVinci film where he was a supernatural demon hunter well now we have a little bit more on the concept of the film as well as news about Marc Guggenheim signing on to script the project for the studio.

Heat Vision reports that the writer of The Green Lantern film will script Leonardo DaVinci and the Soldiers of Forever. His script will be based on an original idea and treatment from Adrian Askarieh, and re-imagines Da Vinci as a member of a secret society who falls headlong into a supernatural adventure that pits the man against Biblical demons in a story involving secret codes, lost civilizations, hidden fortresses and fallen angels.

This all makes me so happy. I think Megan Gale is a great choice for Wonder Woman – and any The-Hobbit-Being-Made news is happy-making news (and Bats and Supes!). And Woot Robert Downey Junior movies!
