Like most huge superhero movies, we’ve been digesting bits and pieces of information about X-Men First Class for some time now. The most recent instance was a series of spy photos that could have potentially spoiled one of the bigger action set pieces director Matthew Vaughn has up his sleeve. Producer Bryan Singer has also provided several nuggets of information about the film in recent months. Now, finally, 20th Century Fox has revealed the first official plot synopsis and it has some brand, spanking new info. We think. Thanks to Screenrant for the heads up. Here’s the official plot plot synopsis.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Gwyneth Paltrow Says Pepper Potts Will NOT Be in THE AVENGERS

by Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub at Collider

Earlier today, Screen Gems held the press junket for their upcoming movie Country Strong and I was able to talk with Gwyneth Paltrow.  However, with Joss Whedon’s The Avengers getting ready to film early next year, one of the questions I asked was if Pepper Potts (her Iron Man character) would be making an appearance alongside her boss Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

Surprisingly, she said, “no. no Pepper.”  I then asked if this was for sure or was it a maybe.  She said, “I think it’s a for sure.  I think they’re starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now.”

12 tantalizing things we learned during our Thor set visit

By Fred Topel at Blastr

We went to the Los Angeles set of Thor in March, and even though we wanted to tell you all about it immediately, we’ve had to sit on it all year. But now the embargo has lifted and we can share the things we learned from director Kenneth Branagh, producer Craig Kyle and the actors playing Asgardian warriors.

The weapons could really cut you: The prop masters let us handle some of the weapons. Thor’s hammer felt about 20 pounds, definitely a two-hand job. They wouldn’t even let Alexander touch Sif’s double sword. It opens up like Darth Maul’s double saber, only with real steel, so it could take a finger off. Stevenson got the ax, and Tom Hiddleston throws knives. “I got a two-handed battleaxe,” Stevenson said. “I’m swinging a two-handed battleaxe all around my head and all this sort of stuff,” Stevenson said. “Of course, you come to do it in full costume, and you can’t actually get your arms together, so you’re wielding in one-handed.”
