SUMMARY:
They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.
Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can’t-or won’t-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman’s safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara’s life.
REVIEW:
I was waiting to read this book with much anticipation, but it took me a while to get into it. I am glad I pushed through the begining because it turned out to be a really good read. This is a story of Ares who is one of the 4 horsemen. If his seal is broken he becomes war thus causing the end of the world as we know it. Alas, there is hope with a human woman named Cara.
Cara is thrust into a world that she can hardly handle all the while falling for Ares. Ares fights his feelings for her by being a brute and aggressive, but his tenderness seeps through. He realizes all the things he thought he was and everything he was willing to do to keep his seal in tact is not so easy anymore.
I have to say that even though the book started slow for me it ended with a bang. Ares and Cara are a good match. She refuses to put up with his crap and he is shocked by it. Their interaction is almost comical at times and yet you are dying for them to hurry up and get together. And boy when they do…..fireworks!!
