Welcome back to the world of Po, the Dragon Warrior and the Furious Five. Po along with his comrades have continued on with their training, defending Valley of the Peace from all sorts of evil. A threat rises in Lord Shen, an albino peacock who had been banished from his kingdom many years before after going on a rampage committing murder upon hearing he would not be the most powerful warrior and would be defeated by a warrior of black and white. Shen has returned to his home with the intention to reign as ruler over all of China. He has created a new technological weapon that is capable of ending Kung Fu forever. Po and the Furious Five set out not only to take down Shen but to also destroy the new weapon. Po soon realizes that Shen is linked to his lost past and may be his only chance at finally finding out the truth of who he really is and where he came from.

The humor returns along with the super fun characters we all know and love from the first movie. Jack Black is even more funny if you could imagine that happening! He is perfect as a Po and his character is fleshed out so much better in Kung Fu Panda 2. Gary Oldman offers the voice of the evil Lord Shen. He manages to make the peacock arrogant, sarcastic, sinister, and crazy! The only real downside to Kung Fu Panda 2 is that the Furious Five didn’t get as much screen time as they did in the first movie.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is far more emotional and touching. Po’s determination to find the truth of who he really is and where he really came from can be felt throughout the entire film. You really feel like you’re going on the adventure with him. Po grows in wisdom as a warrior and as a friend. I just wanted to give him the biggest hug! The animation as with the first is absolutely lovely.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is a movie worth watching this year whether on your own or with a bunch of friends or family. No matter your age, you will find yourself falling in love with Po and his fabulous butt kicking friends!
