Sonya MacTavish’s life has been in complete turmoil. She caught her fiancé in bed with her cousin weeks before they were to be wed. She immediately ended the engagement, but it complicated things since they worked at the same firm. She thought they could be adults and make it work; however, it ended up to be too much. She decided to go out on her own and do freelance work instead.
As Sonya is trying to get her business off the ground she is rocked with even more unexpected news. She finds out her father, who passed when she was younger, unbeknownst to him, had a secret twin brother. Her unknown uncle recently passed and left her almost everything. The catch? She has to live at his manor in Maine for three years.
The house is gorgeous overlooking the sea. However, she never expected all the ghosts that live there. Including one malevolent entity that appears to have cursed the brides of the family. One of them dies every generation in that house, on their wedding day. Can Sonya find the seven wedding rings of the seven brides and stop the curse, or will she be the next bride to die?
I usually enjoy Roberts’s writing and it’s been a while since I read one that wasn’t in her pseudonym’s In Death series. However, this one was kind of dull in comparison to some of her other books I’ve read. There seemed to be a lot of focus on her tedious day to day life. I worked on this project, took the dog out, ate, took the dog out again. It was so incredibly boring and monotonous.
Then the book ended without any conclusion, just a sort of cliffhanger to get you to read the next book to see what happens. I honestly don’t know if I will read it though this one just didn’t excite me in the least.
