Open Book Society wants to congratulate the actor Michael J. Fox to his birthday!
Michael Andrew Fox was born June 9th, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He started his film and TV career in the 1970s and became famous the first time as Alex P. Keaton in ‘Family Ties’. His most famous cinema part is Marty McFly from the ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy. In the 90th he won an Emmy, three Golden Globes and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for his role as Mike Flaherty in ‘Spin City’.
Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 and disclosed his condition to the public in 1998. He has since become an advocate for research toward finding a cure. This led him to create the Michael J. Fox Foundation and this year the Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet gave him a honoris causa doctorate.
