YOUR FAVORITE SCI-FI FLICKS, FROM METROPOLIS THROUGH THE 50’S

When we beamed our lists of favorite science fiction movies onto the pages of Wired.com, we knew some of our readers would think we were goofier than Jar Jar Binks.

Little did we know that Wired.com readers would fire back with such vehemence, vitriol and — most importantly — sincere love for sci-fi flicks that didn’t make our lists.

I would have to agree with most on the list.  I know this is only a compilation through the 50’s, however I am partial to more updated titles such as Blade Runner, Dark City and say, Fifth Element.

We know half the films on the list were remade but did you know that Giorgio Moroder orchestrated a Metropolis restoration (in color)  in the 1984? Moroder’s version of the film introduced a new contemporary pop/rock music soundtrack for the film as well. The remake was unfortunately panned by critics and film buffs alike.  I gather they didn’t want the original masterpiece tampered with. But as with all remakes, you cannot please everyone.
