DROP DEAD DIVA SEASONS 1 & 2 SUMMARIES

Open Book Society will be presenting new shows to the line up this summer and this fall. Drop Dead Diva is one of those new shows. The third season begins Sunday, June 19th at 9pm. Here are the summaries for the first two seasons:
Season One, Originally aired July 12, 2009-October 11, 2009
Debbie Dobkins, a tall and aspiring model, is on her way to a casting. Driving while putting on lip gloss proves to be a fatal mistake when Debbie ends up being hit by an oncoming truck and dies. Her soul reaches the offices of Heaven where an angel named Fred welcomes her and looks over her folder of her life on Earth. He declares Deb a self-centered woman, having committed zero acts of good deeds and zero acts of bad deeds. She is simply declared to be shallow. Deb can’t believe it. She tries to explain that she was a good person on Earth. She wants to return. Fred tells her that’s impossible and as he looks over at the computer, Deb presses down on the return button on the keyboard. Debbie gets her wish to return to Earth but in a most unexpected way. She lands not in her former body but in the body of a woman who was recently declared dead.
Debbie to her horror is now Jane Bingum. A voluptuous and very intelligent lawyer. Debbie has no choice but to learn how to live like Jane. She takes on juggling all of Jane’s cases prior to having been declared dead and is assisted by her hilarious assistant Terri. Debbie is also determined to reconnect with her boyfriend, Grayson Kent, who is still heartbroken over having lost her and works in the same company as Jane. Debbie also helped by Fred, who has now been assigned as her guardian angel since having allowed her to return back to Earth. She finally tells her best friend Stacy the truth and Stacy starts to date Fred.
Debbie as Jane discovers she is a lot stronger than she thought she was and how people shouldn’t be treated by how they look but by who they are.
Season Two, Originally aired June 6, 2010-August 29, 2010
Debbie returns, still trapped in Jane’s body and still no clue as how to correct that mistake. She has also decided to move on from Grayson. She knows she can’t really have him since he’s interested in someone else. Debbie also can’t tell Grayson the truth of who she really is since she doesn’t think he will believe her. Debbie as Jane finds love with Roy. But soon enough everything starts to fall apart. Jane’s husband shows up knocking Debbie for a loop (they end up getting a divorce). Roy breaks up with her since she seems to be working all the time and finding more time to spend with Grayson than with him. And Jane’s cases are still as crazy and ludicrous as in the first season.
Grayson asks Jane to meet him for dinner one evening. Debbie (Jane) heads to the dinner determined to finally tell Grayson the truth so they can be together. But Grayson throws a bombshell on Debbie (Jane) when he asks her to be his best man at his upcoming wedding! Debbie (Jane) says she can’t do it and abruptly leaves the restaurant in tears. Grayson chases after and as he steps into the road, yelling out her name, he is hit straight on by a car. Debbie (Jane) runs to his side, cradling his unconscious body.
The third season of Drop Dead Diva returns this Sunday and after last season’s HUGE cliffhanger I am definitely looking forward to what is going to happen!
