Of all the Reapers, Fintan is the one that Cael worries about the most.  Fintan has buried his emotions so deep that he no longer has them.  At least that’s what Cael thought until Fintan has to protect a Halfling, Cat, that changes him in ways that nobody thought was even possible.

It is not uncommon for a Fae to visit a human and leave them with child, but it’s strange for one mortal family to have been visited by three different Fae, resulting in three half-Fae children.  That is exactly what has happened in Cat’s family.  Nobody knows what it is about them that keeps drawing the Fae to them, but Cat doesn’t see it as a good thing.  She’s grown up her whole life being the only one of her siblings to not have any magic and now her parents and both of her siblings have been killed.  The Fae wait around her home waiting for her to be killed as well.  That is when the strange Fae with the white hair appears and offers her protection in exchange for being bait to help them catch their enemy, Bran.  Cat feels she has nothing to lose and takes him up on the deal.  But she never expected to fall in love during the process.

I wanted to like this book, but I just didn’t.  This is the first of the Reaper books that just didn’t hold my interest.  I was quite disappointed because I expected Fintan’s book to be epic and it really just fell flat for me.

I found Fintan and Cat to be quite boring and they just didn’t draw me in like the other couples have.  I’d have thought Cat’s family was definitely interesting enough, but the whole book just really failed for me.  There were no significant highs or lows, but just a flat line of tedium throughout.  I’m really hoping the next book sparks my interest a little more.
