Dancer Luke brought to book by love of fantasy

A 15-YEAR-OLD has become a published author after penning a fantasy novel during train journeys to and from London.

Luke McCabe is a professional dancer and regularly travels to the capital for classes and performances.

He has used the time spent commuting to write the novel Moon Light, about triplet girls with magical powers who were separated at birth. Now he has paid for the book to be published and is hoping to market it to young adults.

Luke, of Bassford Avenue, Heanor, said every character in the book was related in some way but did not know it. He said: “I have always had a passion for writing fiction, and so used the spare time on train journeys to my advantage.

“I had the idea for Moon Light in my head for a long time and I thought it was quite a good idea.

“When I get a story in my head I just have to get it down on paper.” Luke did not send his manuscript to a publishing house because he thought it would not get looked at.

The Heanor Gate Science College pupil said: “Although it is great news that it is all finished and published, it is only self-published.”

“Because I do not have a literary agent, and because I can’t afford one, my novel would have been shoved in a pile. Self-publishing seemed like the only option.
