Review:

When As Gouda As Dead  begins, the town of Providence, Ohio is getting ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Oh boy are they doing it up in a big way. The whole main street is getting involved, including Fromagerie Bessette. This is the 6th installment of the Avery Aames’ Cheese Shop Mystery series and the first one I have read. I can honestly say it will not be the last one though. The main character, Charlotte Bessette, is finally ready for her wedding. However, murders have a way of putting a damper on things. So when a well loved bar owner is found dead, some of the fun has to be put on hold, including the wedding.

Charlotte Bessette is not happy about her wedding being put on hold, but she knows it is the right thing to do. She is even more unhappy about the murder and the mysteries that have popped up. She has to get to the bottom of all this so life can return to normal. The characters in As Gouda As Dead  are well developed and wonderful. The writing is superb and descriptive. Avery Aames is a fabulous author that draws readers in and never lets go. And  I for one do not want to let go.

I have not read any of the other books in this series and do not think it hampers enjoying this one. I also know this is not the last I will be reading. I love the series this author writes under the name of Daryl Wood Gerber and am excited to find this one. This is a truly super read, with amazing characters, a wonderful town and stellar writing. I recommend it to all cozy readers and anyone wanting to read a fabulous and intriguing mystery. In my family we say there is no such thing as desserts that are too rich or have too much sugar and no savory food can ever have enough cheese. Well, now I can also say I can never have enough of Avery Aames’ Cheese Shop Mysteries!!
