Synopsis:

“Are you back, Angelique?”

He waits in his library, alone, drawing back curtains on memories of love so many years lost. Reports of dead men, bloodless, all eerily similar, tell Vincent the tale. Stalking in shadows, she seeks him.

Will she have him still?

Told first in Helen A Rosburg’s poem “Angelique,” the story of Angelique and Vincent’s undying love now comes to resplendent life in this novelette illustrated by Cherif Fortin and Lynn Sanders and offered in animated-book format. With its beautiful prose and breathtaking images, this instant classic vampire story will haunt and delight readers for eternity.

Review:

The story begins with a beautiful poem. It sets the mood for the entire book. Excerpts  from the poem are used with each new chapter. I liked that aspect of the book.

The poem makes Angelique sound like the boogie man but she is not. I actually felt sorry for her most of the time.

Her husband Vincent takes us through memories of the past with his soul mate. They had something exceedingly rare, they truly loved one another. Vincent romanced his gorgeous wife until the day she was taken away from him. Then he began to plot and plan. He would find a way for them to be together but it would be many years before he could exact his plan. While Vincent schemed, they were drawn to one another like magnets. It must have been unbearable.

It’s heart-breaking for Vincent. I felt his pain as well as Angelique’s; they are both miserable.

I very much enjoyed the illustrated pages. They fit in perfectly with the story.

The character development was perfect as was the plot and how the author slowly rolled out the clues.

The background of each page made the story a complete package of a beautiful romance and a life-long love.

I think the book is a love story about two people that will do anything to be together. I recommend it to young adults and women.
