ALONG FOR THE RIDE BY SARAH DESSEN: BOOK COVERS AROUND THE WORLD

Brought to you by OBS reviewer Valerie

Here’s the summary for the book I’m covering (bad pun!):

It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce—or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live.

A job in a clothes boutique introduces Auden to the world of girls: their talk, their friendship, and their crushes. She missed out on all that, too busy being the perfect daughter to her demanding mother. Then she meets Eli, an intriguing loner and a fellow insomniac who becomes her guide to the nocturnal world of the town. Together they embark on parallel quests: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she’s been denied; for Eli, to come to terms with the guilt he feels for the death of a friend.

In her signature pitch-perfect style, Sarah Dessen explores the hearts of two lonely people learning to connect. (Goodreads)

United States:

I think this is a classic. It’s a guy and girl on a bike, which makes total sense considering the title. I love how the red makes the bike pop, and it’s an altogether cute and darling cover! (Note: Recently, the publisher has switched to a different cover, but I’m not including that one. I’m for the classic, aka the one below.)

United Kingdom:

What a pretty dress! It’s such a cool collage. I absolutely love it to pieces! I heart it. Amazing.

Germany:

Along for the ride. Because of you. I like how the cover’s title works in English too. I like the reference to the washing machine, and I think this is a really great cover.

Sweden:

Not the most interesting cover, although I love how “Sarah Dessen” is larger than the actual cover. It’s all summery too, and that makes me deem this cover okay.

Portugal:

The colors are so vivid. I like the coloring for this one best, although there’s too much going on. My eye can’t focus on anything; they’re too caught up in everything. However, it’s still a great cover.

Dutch:

I like the font for the title and how it stands out against the white dress. I just wish I could see her face. I feel like it’s just so abrupt the way the cover is now.

And those are the covers! Comment with which one you’re lusting over most!
