Synopsis:

A STRANGER’S SMILE

Christmas may be coming to Linavar, but Temperance Menzie is far from joyful. Grief-stricken over the death of her father at the hands of the Black Riders, she almost didn’t see the wounded stranger in the woods. And now she’s determined to give this braw, brooding Highlander the help she couldn’t give her father. But there’s a secret lurking in the depths of his blue-gray eyes. And Temperance won’t rest until she uncovers it . . .

A LOVER’S KISS

A killer for hire. It’s the last thing Cailean Grant ever thought he’d become, but being part of the Black Riders was his only way to survive. Now, his guilt grows day by day, along with his desire for the beautiful, brave lass nursing him back to health. As Christmas, the season of miracles, draws near and the truth of his identity threatens to come out, Cailean must risk the only thing he has left to lose-his heart.

Review:

A Highlander’s Christmas is the perfect Christmas read. Paula Quinn has given the reader a fast moving plot which is full of poignancy and humor. It truly is Scottish romance at its best with historical detail that immerses the reader into the setting. Top that with unforgettable characters, which on telling their stories prove that love can conquer and forgive.

Temperance Menzie is not looking forward to Christmas. She watched her father killed by the Black Riders and is determined to get revenge. When she comes upon a wounded Cailean Grant in the woods she feels obligated to help him. The chemistry between them is undeniable but there is a secret about him that she knows she will have to learn if they are to have a future together.

Cailean became a Black Rider out of desperation however in that role he witnessed a death that haunts him daily . As the lass Temperance nurses him back to health he knows that although he wants to spend the rest of his life with her his secret threatens the relationship and the upcoming festivities.

This is a truly delightful story that will brighten the Christmas season and will appeal to readers of historical Scottish romance but also to anyone wishing to try something different.  Well written Paula Quinn has given the reader another fabulous read. I know she is one of my favorite authors.
