Here at OBS we’re always looking out for news books that you might enjoy and we have stumbled across a steampunk novel that has gotten rave reviews.
‘The Bookman’ a novel by Lavie Tidar, is a steampunk adventure, a book about books, a mystery, a coming of age tale and a love story. As you can see it is hard to classify in one word; it offers so much.
Here is the synopsis:
When his beloved is killed in a terrorist atrocity committed by the sinister Bookman, young poet Orphan becomes enmeshed in a web of secrets and lies. His quest to uncover the truth takes him from the hidden catacombs of a London on the brink of revolution, through pirate-infested seas, to the mysterious island that may hold the secret to the origin, not only of the shadowy Bookman, but of Orphan himself…
Not only does it sounds like a fine read, but the cover art by David Frankland is really cool. ‘The Bookman’, published by Angry Robot Books, has already been released in the UK and Australia, with an expected release date in the U.S. being in July, so keep it on your radar, for we sure will. You might even find an OBS Book Review of ‘The Bookman’ this summer.
