According to sources close to the production, Stuart Townsend has pulled out of Marvel’s adaptation of “Thor” due to creative differences. This cast change, came very close to the beginning of production, for shooting commences on Monday, directed by Kenneth Bragnah. Townsend was set to play Fandral, an ally of Norse god Thor.

Stuart  Towsend’s most notable roles being vampire Lestat in “The Queen of the Damned”, Dorian Gray in ‘A League of Extraordinary Gentleman’ and Charlize Theron’s boyfriend. He was let-go from the role of Aragon, in Lord of the Rings Trilogy a day before principal photography began.  It seems the actor can’t get a break.

Townsend is being replaced by actor Joshua Dallas, according to the two sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record. Dallas,  a newcomer, can be seen in the upcoming Tuskagee Airmen drama called ‘Red Tails’ which was directed by George Lucas.

‘Thor” co-stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Renee Russo and Tom Hiddleston and was set to be released in May 20th of 2011, but just recently was moved up to May 6, 2011.
