Sypnosis:

ork Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands brings the heat in this new Argeneau novel, as one woman is rescued by an irresistible immortal …

“Vampires…”

When Raffaele Notte pulls a barely dressed, disoriented woman from the ocean, the last thing he expects is for her to utter that word. The immortal has come to the island resort to help his cousin, but now, it seems, there are rogue vampires dining on unsuspecting tourists. And he soon realizes that not only is Jess a target, she’s also the life mate he’s been waiting for…

Vampires are real. Jess would’ve never believed it until she saw them with her own eyes. She knows she has to get off the island, and her gallant rescuer has offered to help. There’s something about Raffaele that’s unlike any man she has ever met, and his touch sends pleasure through her that is beyond all imagining. But when Jess discovers who he really is, will she risk life as she knows it for a chance of forever by his side?

Review:

In this story, we start to see the consequences and aftermath of the events that occurred in Immortal Unchained with some of the Notte relatives taking care of Santo Notte, who was wounded in that book. We get to see Raffaele and Zanipolo, from Under A Vampire Moon, try to help Santo with his issues that are not letting him sleep at night and his new constant need to go look out for rogue vampires trying to find the evil scientist that hurt him. Zani decides is a good idea to take Santo to a tropical destination like the one they took with Christian, one night while they are getting food for Zani, they spot a woman that is swimming to the coast followed by a shark, Raffaele dives into the water and saves her, only to learn that she escaped a boat with vampires before passing out. After bringing her back to heal, Raffaele learns that Jess is his life mate, but there might be a second person she is a life mate to, a vampirette.

I like the world of the Immortals and vampires of the Argeneau series, but lately I feel it has become the same story told in different ways: Immortal meets girl, girl doesn’t like or fears vampires, evil rouge vampire tries to kill the girl, Immortal saves girl, steamy sex scenes, and girl turns into Immortal. It was nice to introduce the evil scientist in the previous book, but it was more interesting that the reader learns in this story that not all of the leaders in the Immortal community are as good as the Argeneau and Notte.

I was happy that Raffaele was able to find his life mate, and that Jess was able to help Santo with some of his issues. I hope we can see more Notte family members in the future and maybe new immortals marrying into the families.

One thing that I love is the interaction between the Immortal bloodlines such as the Argeneau and Notte families and how the siblings and cousins help each other. In all of the books in this series, they are always helping each other mostly because an aunt or parent asked them but always helping.

It was an interesting setting to have this Immortals (vampires) in a place such as Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It was a laugh to read about them wanting to enjoy the place, but not the sun. The pirates were a nice addition to this world and their reason for doing it.

If you are a fan of the Argeneau series or the work of Lynsay Sands, then I recommend you Vampires Like it Hot. While the sun is high and bright a woman takes a free boat trip that turns bad very fast and ends with her being rescued by a handsome man that keeps her safe but is reluctant to let her go because she is his life mate.
