The Vampire, Philip Burne-Jones, 1897
Imagine having a severe allergy to the sun, a liquid-only diet, and the inability to look at yourself in the mirror.
These problems are commonly shared by vampires, a long-time fiction favorite. Vampires are troubled but fascinating creatures. These nocturnal beings have entertained readers for centuries and film fans for almost 90 years. What makes vampires so immortal with fiction fans?

The theory to why vampires have been so popular for so long is an interesting one. I actually can’t remember why, or how, I became fascinated with these creatures. I know I’ve never really been the type to go “Hey, living forever, that’s cool.” Sounds kind of daunting to me. Although the shapeshifting and mindreading could come in handy! I’m also intrigued with the idea that children who feel powerless are attracted to Vampires. That theory could open up a huge academic discussion … Any way, why do you like vampires? Who is your favourite in pop culture?

Always have had a thing for the vampire, since I was 10. They live for [at least a very long time]without ageing to any degree. Seem unaffected to weather, read minds, project will, shape shift, always seem wealthy. And now we have blood banks, so no messy work, or other death involved[unless one finds a mate they wish to keep]. There is also the rapid mode of travel to anywhere one chooses. What’s not to like?
