‘The Vampire Diaries’ Soundtrack: We’ve Heard It!
“The Vampire Diaries” soundtrack doesn’t come out until Oct. 12, but since we are a bunch of lucky ducks here at Hollywood Crush, we got an early listen. How do the tracks fit into the Mystic Falls universe? And how does the music stack up to the soundtrack of another teen vampire franchise?
Interestingly—and happily—the “Vampire Diaries” soundtrack is able to distance itself from the “Twilight” soundtrack very well. It really does have a completely different sound. Instead of piles of bombast with a hint of indie rock, it’s electro-tinged pop with a healthy dose of singer-songwriter acoustic guitars and piano on the side. In fact, it reminds us of old-school WB soundtracks of yore—that’s probably the Kevin Williamson/”Dawson’s Creek” influence.
‘Supernatural’ Scoop: Bloodsucker episode to take (indirect) aim at ‘Vampire Diaries’
Working on an upcoming Supernatural episode spoofing vampires, the CW thriller’s producers are well aware that they are sticking their necks out: How can they parody the genre without ridiculing a little show called The Vampire Diaries? For starters, you never refer to that series in your script.
“I don’t think there’s currently a [Vampire Diaries] mention in the episode,” says Supernatural EP Sera Gamble. “But part of the thing is finding a balance between, say, [showing] a poster from the actual show and having Sam and Dean really speak their minds. We don’t want to offend.”
Vampire Diaries’ Katerina Graham: Bonnie “Will Do Something Unthinkable”
TVGuide.com: Do you see the vampires and witches ever aligning?
Graham: For the benefit of a life, yeah. Just for the benefit of the vampires? No, I don’t think Bonnie would do that.
It’s Vampire Diaries’ year of the Kat!
TVGuide.com: What about Bonnie and Stefan or Damon?
Graham: I don’t know if it’s never going to happen, but I don’t know about a friendship. They’re going to have to work their asses off to get Bonnie to even like them. I think if it helped Elena, she would definitely work with them and I think that says a lot about Bonnie.
TVGuide.com: How does Bonnie take her anger out on Damon in the second episode?
Graham: She keeps her promise, I will say that, and she will do something unthinkable.
