Two Installments of “Breaking Dawn” and Salary Dispute Holding Up “Breaking Dawn”?
Word on the street is that Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz are holding up an announcement from Summit Entertainment that there will be two installments of “Breaking Dawn” because of a salary dispute. The Hollywood Reporter reports the following:
The studio is close to finalizing agreements with leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, all of whom will get big raises to return for a fifth installment of the vampire romance saga. And director Bill Condon is already signed to film two “Breaking Dawn” movies, which would be shot back-to-back starting in the fall and released in November 2011 and summer 2012, respectively.
But Summit is having a harder time locking in some of the franchise’s secondary characters. Deals for Peter Facinelli (who plays Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Bella’s father, Charlie Swan) are done, but we’re told the actors who play the Cullen kids (especially Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene) are trying to sink their teeth into bigger paydays that, at least at this point, the studio behind the billion-dollar franchise is unwilling to provide. “We may have a situation where one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point,” says a source close to the dealmaking.
We know that Summit doesn’t have any qualms in replacing a major character as fans saw last summer when Rachelle LaFevre was replaced just weeks before shooting began for “Eclipse”. The question remains as to whether they would make such a risky decision as to recast beloved members of the Cullen Family.

So, do you think that the suits at Summit would take the risk and recast the roles Alice Cullen and Emmett Cullen? There was considerable backlash last year from “Team Rachelle” and we have yet to find out if that has any impact on the box office. There were scores of petitions and bloggers urging fans to boycott the film over the way that they replaced her. Would the fans revolt if Ashley and Kellan were replaced? What do you think?
So…who is going to go online and get tickets for the midnight showing when the online ticketing is available on Friday? I’ve already emailed my Twilight buddies to see who will be joining me!
I’m diggin’ the tank from Nordstrom. I think that might have to be an addition to my shirt collection!
