MUST WERE HAPPY TO ROCK ‘I BELONG TO YOU’ FOR THE NM SOUNDTRACK

www.mtv.com: Whether they wanted to or not, Muse have pretty much established themselves as the resident “Twilight” band. After being frequently shouted out by author Stephenie Meyer, the British rockers’ “Supermassive Black Hole” was featured on the soundtrack to the first film. It surprised absolutely no one that they were asked to record a song for the second flick in the franchise, “New Moon,” but the band is pretty flattered to be the only artists to appear on both discs.

“It might be something to do with Stephenie Meyer and that she loves us,” drummer Dominic Howard told MTV News. “We met her quite awhile ago in Phoenix — it was before ‘Twilight’ came out. She’s a very nice lady and talked about how she listens to our music as she writes her books. This is all way before it turned into this huge success that it is, before everyone went vampire nuts.”

DISNEY’S TAKE ON TWILIGHT

www.io9.com: A reader sent in this little tidbit above – this is the packaging for the New Moon movie companion book. We’re glad that the marketing team at Twilight is in on their own joke, though I would like to add that what the movie is selling are clearly bare-chested were-puppies. Thanks for the tip and picture Matt!

Also Disney is thinking about getting into the Twilighting business. The mouse house registered some interesting domain names recently that suggest they will be turning Adrian Phoenix’s “The Maker’s Song” series into a film, TV movie or show. There are three books in the entire series. Here’s the Amazon summary of the book series:

Set in the brooding New Orleans area long established as the best location for all things vampiric, Phoenix’s lively debut has it all: Rogue [FBI] agents, Bureau-ordered hits, mad-scientist experiments in psychopathology, vampires and fallen angels and a slicing-dicing serial killer…

 JACK HUSTON TALKS ECLIPSE

www.iesb.com: IESB: How did you get involved with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse? What is it like to become a part of that whole phenomenon?

Jack: I literally just got back last Saturday, from filming my last little bits on it. I went in for David Slade, who’s the director, for another part that was written as a 19-year-old freshman who’s blonde-haired and blue-eyed, which I knew I wasn’t. That couldn’t be less like me. But, I went in and took a very different spin on how the character was written, and went a little nuts in the room, and David and I really got along, so he said, “I wanna get you in this movie somewhere.” So, he called me up a couple weeks later and said, “There’s this other part. Would you like to do it?,” and he offered me that.

IESB: So, who are you playing in the film and how does he fit into the story?

Jack: I play this guy called Royce King, who is the fiancé of Rosalie (Nikki Reed), before Rosalie was a vampire. It’s her backstory. It’s in 1933, during the Great Depression, and he’s a wealthy son of a banker. He’s a blue blood who takes a shine to her, but she’s not as nice as she seems and he has his comeuppance.
