RACHELLE LEFEVRE BECOMES BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SOCIETY’S SPOKESPERSON
www.prweb.com: Lefevre, who appeared in the movie “Twilight,” as well as its soon-to-be-released sequel, “New Moon,” is the star of 30-second and 60-second spots that will be distributed to television and radio stations across the country. She will also serve as national spokesperson for Best Friends’ Puppies Aren’t Products campaign, which draws attention to the fact that pet shops around the country are selling puppies that come from large commercial breeding operations known as “puppy mills” with deplorable conditions.
“I’m delighted to help speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves,” Lefevre said. ”Ever since I rescued my own dog I have wanted to encourage people to do the same. Working with Best Friends is the perfect way to do this and I’m excited and proud to be working with an organization so dedicated to animal kindness.”

NEW MOON FEATURETTE SHOWS EDWARD FIGHTING THE VOLTURI
www.mtv.com: “The Volturi are the oldest known coven of vampires in the ‘Twilight’ universe,” he says in a new featurette available on MySpace.com.
And wouldn’t you like to know what Pattinson’s Edward Cullen has to say? “The Volturi are the closest thing my world has to royalty,” he tells Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan in the film. “They enforce the law.”
That’s as good an introduction as any to the Volturi baddies. But of course you want more, and the featurette delivers, giving close looks at the Volturi vampires and a behind-the-scenes peek at an epic fight between Edward and the royal bloodsuckers.
As Pattinson explains of Edward, “He doesn’t have a hope in hell of winning the fight.”
The featurette shows exactly whom he must battle. The Volturi cast do their interviews in character: Dakota Fanning as Jane, red eyes glowing, a brown hood covering her head; Michael Sheen as pale-faced, dark-haired Aro; Christopher Heyerdahl as creepy Marcus; Jamie Campbell Bower as the platinum-blonde Caius. Actors portraying secondary Volturi characters — Cudmore and Charlie Bewley (Demetri) — also get a chance to talk about their roles.
“Aro, Caius, and Marcus are in charge,” says “Twilight” series author Stephenie Meyer. “They’ve got their minions, Jane kind of being the foremost.”
“Jane is the secret weapon,” adds Fanning. “She looks kind of innocent, but really her power is pretty evil.”

ANYA MARINA’S ‘SATELLITE HEART’ VIDEO PREMIERES
www.mtv.com: There’s something special about the moment when Bella Swan and Edward Cullen stand together in the forest in “New Moon,” the pivotal scene when the young vampire leaves his human love because he believes that’s the only way to keep her safe. It appears in the video for Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me on the Equinox,” the lead single off the film’s chart-topping soundtrack. And it’s featured in the new video for “Satellite Heart,” singer/songwriter Anya Marina’s contribution to the movie’s musical tableau.
Wearing a black, hooded cloak, Marina walks somberly through a lush forest, past waterfalls, rushing water, moss-covered boulders and thick foliage. Her blood red nails and lips contrast with her pale skin and the earthy green and brown tones of her surroundings. The song has a simple, stripped down arrangement led by an acoustic guitar and eventually joined by strings.
As we see Bella stand alone in the forest, it seems Marina is invoking the perspective of the heartbroken teen. “So pretty, so smart,” she sings. “Such a waste of a young heart/ What a pity, what a sham/ What’s the matter with you, man?”

MELISSA ROSENBERG TALKS NEW MOON, EDWARD’S PROPOSAL AND BREAKING DAWN
www.fearnet.com: Among other topics, Rosenberg discussed her favorite new scenes and explained how that proposal scene will be split between New Moon and Eclipse — and that, if she were to write Breaking Dawn, the subject matter wouldn’t be a problem.
Have you seen the final cut of New Moon yet?
I saw an early cut of it, yeah. Some of the special effects weren’t there, stuff like that. But I have to tell you, it’s funny because for writers, and for me – I often will dread a director’s cut. As a writer, you have already seen the movie in your head. And the movie in your head costs a gazillion dollars; you can’t actually make the movie in your head, but you’ve seen it. And so, a director’s cut is almost always a disappointment because it’s not what you’ve seen in your head. It can be a major adjustment, it’s not what’s in my head but this one’s different, but as good.
When I saw Chris’s cut, about ten minutes into the movie I started smiling. I thought to myself, I get to put my name on this. It was just so thrilling. It’s really good. I have to tell you, in all sincerity, it’s really good.
I saw you last on a set visit to New Moon’s Vancouver stages, and you had just arrived to watch the dailies. You seemed really pleased with what you were seeing from the Volturi scenes in particular.
Yes, and that was on a sound stage. The big screen version really lives up to it. It just looks lush and beautiful; it looks like a big movie. And the budget didn’t increase that significantly. Harry Potter budgets are what, $150-200 million? This is half of that, at least.
