Nikki Reed Talks About Rosalie’s Motives in “Breaking Dawn”
Nikki Reed recently spoke with MTV about “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” and Rosalie’s motives behind helping save Bella’s baby and here is what she had to say:
“I think that Rosalie just always wanted to be a mom, and that’s how I look at it,” she said. “It has nothing to do with being pro-life or anything. I think it’s about her want, her need to be a mother, and this is the only opportunity she’s ever going to have, so she’s willing to let Bella die so she can have that and fulfill that, and that’s how I look at it. It’s her own personal desires.”

Movie Mistakes in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”
In case you were too engrossed in staring at Taylor Lautner’s abs or Robert Pattinson’s crooked smile or sex hair and missed them, the users at MovieMistakes.com have begun to compile a listing of continuity mistakes and other goofs in the final cut of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”.
Here are a few of them that Examiner has compiled and expounded upon:
“Aro”/”Arrow”: Remember the “Volturi Featurette”? If not, here it is. Upon watching it, you’ll notice that “Felix” (portrayed in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Daniel Cudmore) says “Aro” with the pronunciation “Ah-ro” in this video. In the film, however, it’s pronounced as “arrow.” When I asked Daniel Cudmore about this mix-up at the Eclipse premiere (see here for the video), he chalked it up to “difference of opinions in directors . . . each director wants it a different way.”
“Jasper Hale” at lunch, graduation: First of all, “Jasper” was no longer in school in the events of Eclipse (the book). He, “Rosalie,” and “Emmett” had all graduated by this point. The fact that he was a part of lunchroom events in the film has been received by some commentators to one post as a continuity effort: since he was on the biology field trip with the group in Twilight, he’d been grouped with those characters in age and bringing him back with the same group in New Moon and Eclipse made sense in that regard. Also, there are probably a good list of reasons why “Jasper Hale” (Jackson Rathbone) and “Alice Cullen” (Ashley Greene) were seated next to each other at the Forks High School graduation ceremony in Eclipse (i.e., this offers a flash at their romantic bond, makes the number of shots needed in this scene lesser) but this is a mistake as well since their last names are quite spread apart, alphabetically.
Summit Clears Up Some “Breaking Dawn” and “Eclipse” DVD Rumors
There have been several rumors swirling about casting for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” as well as the release date of the DVD for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”. Summit Entertainment has responded to these rumors with the following statement:
1) There is only one casting director working on THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN films right now – Deborah Zane. As of right now no local auditions are being held. If Deborah’s name is not attached to it in some form or another, it is not legitimate. She is also not putting out nationwide casting notices. Once again – as was the case with NEW MOON and ECLIPSE – any ads you see are completely false. She has set up an e-mail address specifically for casting inquiries (BreakingDawnCast@gmail.com).
2) Lexicon touched base regarding a rumor about Renesmee’s name changing in BREAKING DAWN. It is FALSE.
3) Twi Examiner asked about Riley’s appearance in BREAKING DAWN because it was listed on Xavier’s IMDb page. Riley will not appear in the BREAKING DAWN films. It is a rumor.
4) Also not confirmed is anything you have heard about the US release date of the ECLIPSE DVD. We have not announced it yet, so unless it is international and confirmed by an international distributor, it is a rumor.
Bravo to Nikki for getting the right context on Rosalie’s motives and really digging deep into her character! I am of the belief that there’s no hidden agenda within the books. Bella had her reasons for her choice and Rosalie’s greatest regret about being a vampire is that she could never have children and then grandchildren. Helping Bella helps her achieve her desire to raise a child, vicariously through Bella.
What do you think of the compilation of movie mistakes? Do you think that the people who worked on the film actually look at that site to find their goofs? The Aro pronunciation difference was one of those things that bugged me – especially when his name was repeated in such a short time frame within one scene. Are there any others that the folks at MovieMistakes haven’t noted yet?
