“THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE” ALBUM ON PRE-ORDER: WILL ROBERT PATTINSON SING?

from altfg.com:

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s soundtrack compilation is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 8, or about three weeks before the movie opens on North American screens.

At this stage, what songs will be included in the soundtrack album is most anybody’s guess. According to earlier reports, Muse’s song for the film is out. Others have it that just about everybody, from Adam Lambert to Justin Bieber (dueting with Robert Pattinson…), will be heard on the album’s soundtrack. Placido Domingo anyone? What about Joan Jett?

Band 100 Monkeys‘ Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the Twilight Saga movies, has reportedly also offered songs from his band.

BREAKING DAWN PRODUCTION & DIRECTOR RUMORS

The Internet was buzzing yesterday with reports that the status of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” is officially “in production” according to iMDB.  The site additionally lists Bill Condon as the director, despite no official word from Summit Entertainment.  GossipCop.com is currently classifying the “in production” status on iMDB as a rumor, stating that, “A rep for Summit Entertainment labels the adaptation “in development,” and tells Gossip Cop there is still no start date, no director, no production schedule, and no decision about whether Breaking Dawn will be one or two films.”

PETER FACINELLI’S NEXT ROLE: “THE PAZMANIAN DEVIL”

from hollywoodnews.com:

The rumors are true—Peter Facinelli’s official web site has confirmed that the actor will be playing one of several previously rumored roles. In the upcoming biopic about former world champion boxer Vinny “Paz” Pazienza, Facinelli will play “The Pazmanian Devil” himself.

Paz, a lightweight and light middleweight boxer who rose to fame in the mid 1980’s, was first known for his skill as a fighter. In both 1987 and 1990, he won International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Champion titles, and was on his way to competing as a welterweight.

JANE SAYS, “READ”

The American Library Association recently added a poster of Dakota Fanning as “Jane” to their Celebrity READ campaign products.   Fanning appeared on a poster several years ago as her character “Fern” from Charlotte’s Web. Taylor Lautner appeared on a New Moon themed poster and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart appeared on a Twilight version.  The posters help support the ALA’s mission to promote reading, literacy, and libraries.  Ironically, the Twilight Saga books are on the ALA’s list of most challenged books, ranking at #5 for 2009.

Are you planning to pre-order the “Eclipse” soundtrack?  Are there any bands or artists in particular that you hope to see featured?

I decided a long time ago to take any “Breaking Dawn”  news with a grain of salt until Summit makes an official announcement.  I will say that I’m pretty doggone ready for them to get off their butts and get that show on the road, though!

I can’t help but laugh at the irony of the #5 most challenged book series being featured in their Celebrity READ campaigns, but the Twilight Saga has been very, very, very good for promoting reading.  There have been countless stories about teenage girls who had little to no interest in reading being consumed with it after getting their hands on the Twilight books.  There was the story last week about how the sale of copies Wuthering Heights quadrupled last year.  Regardless of whether some people agree about whether Twilight is good or bad, you can’t argue with the fact that it has helped to promote reading and that is never a bad thing.
