INTERVIEW WITH CAMERON BRIGHT
In a recent interview with MonstersAndCritics.com, Cameron Bright talked about playing Volturi Guard member Alec, the Twilight phenomenon, and his role in 2004’s “Birth” with Nicole Kidman.
M&C – Your character Alec the Volturi only appears briefly in New Moon but we’ll see more of him in Eclipse. How did you flesh him out aside from the book and script?
CB – It’s hard to say what I added. All these characters are so multi-dimensional, but you can do what you want. No one knows how to play a vampire; you can really play it however you want. No one character in Twilight is the same, that’s what so great about it.
M&C – The Twilight storm is so over the top. What do you think about the fans have reacted to it?
CB – It’s amazing, the things I’ve gotten to do – travel to Australia, go to Twilight conventions around the world, and meet people who’ve been following me and watching my career since I was 6. I’m 17 and I live in a town of 100,000 people and not very many people get to do that. People ask me if I’d turn back because of the hype but I don’t regret anything I’ve done in my life. If I can’t walk down the street, there is a possibility that I would turn into Robert Pattinson, I would regret it. But no one strong armed me into doing this and no one really cares.
M&C – What kinds of cool things have happened to you because of Twilight?
CB – It’s pretty funny. I got to go to Rome for the Twilight Film Festival showing the trailer and couple of us showed up there. I travel around with the movie. My friends haven’t even to Vancouver or even off the island where I live. And I’ve been to Australia, Shanghai, and Rome. I got to be on my favourite TV interview shows.
FOUR MILLION IN “NEW MOON” DVD SALES FOR OPENING WEEKEND
Twilight fans have shown the love once again for ” New Moon” with over four million DVDs being sold over the weekend, outselling “Twilight” by over 200,000 units for the release weekend.
Summit Entertainment chairmen Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman said, “Once again the incredibly dedicated fans of ‘The Twilight Saga’ came out in massive numbers this weekend for the opportunity to be one of the first to take home the second movie in the series.”
GET BELLA’S BEDDING AT TARGET
Are you a fan of Bella’s purple bedding set from the movies? If so, you can get it for your own bed at Target. This Target-exclusive set was once no longer available and was going for hundreds of dollars on eBay to dedicated fans who wanted to recreate Bella’s bedroom in their own homes. The set is available online through Target’s website in full, queen, and king sizes and retails between $89.99 and $109.99.
FLORIA SIGISMONDI INTERESTED IN “BREAKING DAWN”?
Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning’s director from “The Runaways” recently indicated in an interview with MTV that she would be interested in directing “Breaking Dawn”.
“Well, I’m just actually starting to read it — it’s a little bit darker, so I think it’d be interesting,” she told MTV News. “It’s really interesting, yeah, maybe a little edgier. Like I said, I just started reading, so I don’t know actually where it goes, but it does seem to take on a different imagery and a different level.”
“It’d be interesting to do something a little bit differently, but keeping the story and the characters,” she said. “But it looks like they enter a different world. Bella goes through very different things in the last book.”
ROBERT PATTINSON IMMORTALIZED IN WAX
While he may not be an immortal vampire in real life, Robert Pattinson’s immortal likeness was unveiled this morning at Madame Tussauds in New York’s Times Square. Madame Tussauds’ website describes the gure as having ” R-Pattz’s trademark sultry expression and messy hair, and his outfit will reflect his rugged style with an open collared shirt and skinny trousers.” They also go on to state that the process to create the figure takes four months of intense work to with a cost of $220,000.
While I love reading the interviews with the main cast members, the ones from the minor characters are also great to read. I love to see how appreciative they are about the opportunities that being a part of the Twilight franchise affords them. With the TwiCon events, DVD release parties, and so many other things, they really have a lot of opportunities that aren’t available with other films.
Are you surprised by that “New Moon” sold more DVDs than “Twilight” did in it’s opening weekend? I can’t say that I am since the movies and books gained even more popularity once the “Twilight” DVD was released last spring.
I think that it’s awesome that Target is selling the Bella bedding set again. I felt so bad for fans who wanted to get their own getting robbed by sellers on eBay for a $100 bedding set. I saw one auction last summer where the bids were over $500.
What do you think of the possibility of Floria Sigismondi directing “Breaking Dawn”? Granted, this is just an interview where she has expressed an interest and not anything from Summit or their sources.
Last, but certainly not least…What do you think of the wax figure of Robert Pattinson? Once again, I am blown away by the artists who work for Madame Tussauds!
