A NEW VOLVO FOR EDWARD?
When Stephenie Meyer wrote the first book, she envisioned Edward Cullen driving a Volvo S60R, a turbo-charged version of the standard vehicle with the capability of going from 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds. It wasn’t the typical soccer mom vehicle. This particular model was designed for drivers who enjoy speed and performance from their vehicles. Fans were disappointed when Edward was seen driving the somewhat-girly Volvo C30 hatchback instead of the sedan made famous in the books. A frenzy of outrage was unleased by fans when “New Moon” director Chris Weitz selected a smoky grey Volvo XC60 crossover instead of a silver car for him as a part of a marketing partnership between The Twilight Saga and Volvo. The same vehicle was used again for “Eclipse”.
Now that filming is underway for “Breaking Dawn”, has anyone wondered what Edward Cullen will be driving for this installment? Will they keep the XC60 from the last two films or will they return to canon with a silver car? Examiner ponders the question and points out that Volvo has issued a new C30 for 2011 available in metallic silver. Will director Bill Condon select yet another car for the film?
KELLAN LUTZ AND CAST MEMBERS LEND HELPING HAND
Kellan Lutz tweeted a photo of himself and new “Breaking Dawn” cast members Rami Malek (Benjamin), Casey LaBow (Kate), and another cast member identified as Richard (no info on IMDb for that cast member) helping with the St. Bernard Project and helping a woman by the name of Rosalie with her home.
The St. Bernard Project helps New Orleans’ victims of Hurricane Katrina with their recovery and rebuilding efforts. Click here for more information on the project and how you can help.
TWO KRISTEN STEWART FILMS HIT DVD ON TUESDAY
Two of Kristen Stewart’s other projects will be available on DVD on Tuesday, February 1. She co-stars in “The Yellow Handkerchief” with William Hurt, Maria Bello, and Eddie Redmayne in a story about a road trip through Louisiana that transforms the lives of three lonely people. The other DVD release is the highly-acclaimed and somewhat controversial “Welcome to the Rileys” in which Kristen plays a teenage prostitute and stripper in New Orleans. She co-stars with the award-winning James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo.
JUST FOR FUN!
I couldn’t resist not posting this one because it’s just too funny. A friend of mine ran across this on a sports site.
What do you think of Volvo’s new C30? Do you think that they should use it in “Breaking Dawn” or do you really not care that much about keeping the car close to canon? Keep in mind that a couple of other Cullen cars make an appearance in “Breaking Dawn”. Near the beginning of the book we are introduced to the Mercedes Guardian that Edward borrows for Bella after the truck mysteriously dies. After the wedding, Bella’s red Ferrari is revealed for her “after” car. Bella also has several key scenes with the Volvo in this movie. This is the car that she takes when she goes to meet Jenks in Seattle, so it still has quite a presence. Edward’s Vanquish was not used in the first movie, but it also has several moments in “Breaking Dawn” like when Edward tosses the keys to Jacob when he needs to get away from all of the baby drama at the Cullens.
Kudos to Kellan and the other cast members for their work with the Katrina victims in New Orleans. So many homes and businesses were destroyed in the city when the levees failed and flooded the city. It’s hard for people to imagine that the city hasn’t been completely restored yet, but there are so many in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast who are still waiting for their turn with the contractors and volunteers to help them out.
Will any of you be renting or picking up either (or both) of Kristen’s newest DVD releases? I’ve got them both in my Netflix queue. I’m really looking forward to seeing “Welcome to the Rileys” and the dynamic between James Gandolfini and Kristen.
