Entertainment Weekly has 11 new photos from the upcoming television series adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s mega-successful (and mega-awesome) A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series…

Every time I see new photos, I’m just blown away by how well HBO has cast the show. They don’t look exactly like the characters in my head, but, similar to what has happened with J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, I can imagine each and actor quickly replacing those images whenever I re-read the series.

First footage from the Americanized Being Human is downright delightful

By Meredith Woerner at io9

Even though we don’t need an Americanized version of BBC’s Being Human, we gotta admit, the US cast is pretty charming. Check out the first real footage from Syfy’s stateside series where a ghost, vampire and werewolf are all roommates.

It looks a lot like the original, but it’s got Sam Witwer, so you know I’m watching it… pantless. All kidding aside, we really hope the best for this adaptation. Syfy could really use a hit right now, and Being Human has always been able to bridge the gap between charm and stark horror.

With True Blood season three hitting screens in early 2011, we look forward to find out what’s next for the residents of Bon Temps. Here’s what’s in store for Sookie, Bill, Eric et al as the werewolves come to town.

Season three loosely follows the plot of Charlaine Harris’ third Southern Vampire Mysteries novel, Club Dead, which finds Sookie teaming up with the werewolf Alcide Herveaux in order to track down kidnapped Bill who is being held hostage by a group of powerful vamps. Be warned – spoilers follow.

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin)
We’ve seen evidence that Sookie isn’t entirely human, and show creator Alan Ball has confirmed that all will be revealed about her otherworldly powers next season: “Sookie has a stronger genetic predisposition in another direction. People who have read the books know exactly what I’m talking about. People who haven’t, it will be revealed,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

The 12 most awesome aliens in TV history

by Jeff Wysaski at guyism

It’s pretty obvious that sci-fi TV shows are pretty fond of aliens. Through the great expanses of TV history there have been plenty of alien life forms to grace the TV screen and we here at Guyism have waded through all the slimy skin, tentacles, multiple eyes and enlarged brains to put together this list of the most awesome TV aliens of all time.

12 Invader Zim
With its black comedy and unique style of animation, Zim is a cult classic of sorts. The show revolved around Zim from the planet Irk, and followed his exploits as he sought to take over the world. However, much like his lab rat equivalents – Pinky and the Brain – these plots were typically foiled thanks to Zim’s bumbling or other unforeseen circumstances.

I watch or have watched every show featured on that list. And I totally agree with #1. I’m still really looking forward to A Game of Thrones, although I preferred the first choice for Daenerys (Tazmin Merchant). The girl who’s playing her now doesn’t look right. Plus they didn’t dye her eyebrows which is one of my biggest movie pet peeves. It’s SO distracting. That girl just isn’t how I pictured Dany; she’s too old maybe? I’m not sure about Being Human yet. I love the British version. It’ll be interesting to see the differences though. The first season of the American version is longer than the first two seasons of the British show. I wonder where the changes will start, plot-wise?

What did you think of the Game of Thrones pictures? Are you looking forward to the Being Human remake? What do you hope to see in the new season of True Blood?
