Manganiello talks nudity “somebody’s got to do it” via the Marquee Blog

As it turns out, Joe Manganiello’s wolfish “True Blood” character Alcide doesn’t strip down on the show purely for your enjoyment. Perhaps hard to believe, but true, Manganiello tells Out Magazine in an interview.

“As far as the butt cheek stuff goes,” the 35-year-old actor says, “it just makes sense. It’s not gratuitous; it’s realistic. If you’re a werewolf and you transform, you lose everything and there are your butt cheeks.”

“True Blood,” Manganiello continues, “is a deconstruction of supernatural creatures. It’s not like those other werewolf projects, where you magically reappear with tiny jean shorts on.”

Regardless, it’s a really good thing Manganiello is so comfortable with his naked form, as he’ll be showing it off in the upcoming male stripper movie “Magic Mike.”

“Somebody’s gotta do it,” he says of taking roles that require such little clothing. “Am I afraid of being typecast? I could care less.”

In order to get into his character (named, ahem, “Big Dick Richie”), the actor did his research, and says “Magic Mike” will portray both the dark and more humorous sides of the industry.

Of one male dancer he interviewed, “All the guys he worked with were dead or in rehab,” Manganiello said. But it was also “the time of his life – this insanely destructive lifestyle, this club life. It was sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll…and getting paid to take your clothes off and have sex.”

I’m glad Joe is so comfortable with these nude scenes, because they are sure fun to watch!!  Him playing a stripper??  I’m sooooo there!!

Jacob Hopkins Cast as Youngest Looking ‘Authority’ Member via Zap2It

The youngest (looking) member of the Vampire Authority has just been cast in “True Blood,” according to the THR. Jacob Hopkins will play Authority chancellor Alexander Drew, who was turned at the age of nine. As we know from “Interview with a Vampire,” undead children are not a good thing.

The report states that Alexander is a vampire who likes to stir things up by baiting others. Yeah, sounds like a typical nine-year-old. It will be interesting to see if vampires retain the traits of the age they were turned, despite the number of years that they’ve been around.

Hopkins has appeared in the film “Priest” with Stephen Moyer (Bill), as well as making an appearance on “How I Met Your Mother.” We’re so excited for this season, especially because everyone cast so far has been a vampire and not a zombie. We were starting to worry that they’d be the newest supes to appear in Bon Temps.

Wow he does look young.  The storyline sounds pretty interesting…with all these new were and vamp additions to the cast, I can’t wait!!
