True Blood Star Speaks Out About Animal Testing via E! Online
With the Golden Globes (and then Oscars) approaching, are you ready for the glitz and glam of the red carpet?!
We love seeing stars all dolled up and made up, but, as some stars remind us, we gotta keep our furry friends in mind.
One of those people is True Blood‘s Kristin Bauer (the amazingly be-yotchy Pam), who filled us in on what advice she’d give starlets this awards season.
So listen up, babes:
“I would say just be a little more curious and think about it,” Kristin told us, when we asked what message she’d send actresses who aren’t as aware of where their makeup came from.
“Most people have a cat or a dog or some other species that they love like a husband…I don’t want to be contributing to unnecessary suffering unknowingly.”
“I find when I get in a conversation with people, they have some sort of missing information,” Kristin filled us in. “Rats and mice, they’re like sharks. They’re hard to get people to care about. But if you gave people the choice of testing with a newer, more accurate and humane and scientifically advanced way ora small little furry guy, I’m pretty sure you’d get a much higher percentage.”
Ryan Kwanten on “New Girl” via theclicker on today
Could frequently shirtless Schmidt, played by Max Greenfield, on Fox’s “New Girl” be getting some abs-olutely tough competition come Valentine’s Day?
Next month, “True Blood” hubba-hubba boy Ryan Kwanten (who is also often shirtless on the HBO hit) makes a guest appearance as Schmidt’s roommate Jess’ target for a one-night stand when she spies him in a bar and hilariously hones in on her prey.
“It’s great to be on TV where that stuff can happen,” said creator Liz Meriwether, the 30-year-old showrunner who patterned Jess after her own goofy self. Zooey Deschanel plays the adorkable roommate who lives with three guys, including Schmidt.
As it turns out, although Deschanel was happy to work with Kwanten, she actually didn’t know him before the shoot.
“No, but it was awesome,” she said during a set visit during the winter Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena on Monday. “I just never watch ‘True Blood.’ ”
Meriwether, however, is a big fan of the HBO vamp show and wanted the star for this part.
“I think he’s funny and such a subtle actor to make that character funny,” she said of the man who plays the dim brother of Sookie Stackhouse. “And I also think he’s just gorgeous and it’s really rare to find a really talented, really funny gorgeous guy. And he was excited to do a comedy.”
So as the writer, did she require Kwanten to go shirtless?
“I don’t think he takes his shirt off. I know, I know, I’m really sorry about that,” Meriwether said. “But I think there might be a few shots of him online with his shirt off. If you just Google him. Not that I would know, of course.”
So sadly, there will be no shirtless battle between Greenfield and Kwanten on the show. But what if there were one?
“I would lose,” said the pragmatic Greenfield.
“New Girl” airs at 9 p.m., Tuesdays on Fox.
Who Has Wittier Lines: Pam or Eric? via wetpaint
Every super-freak on True Blood comes part n’ parcel with a mouth full of sass (well, other than Bill…), but when it comes to snark, two vampires jump to the front of the pack: Viking God Eric Northman and his S&M-loving progeny, Pam.
Both these blood-suckers pump out dry humor and sass like it’s their job, but whose dialogue is wittier?
Check out three hi-larious quotes from Pam and Eric and you decide!!
Pam answers the phone: “Blah, blah… vampire emergency. Blah.”
Pam hangs with Arlene’s kiddos: “I hate them. They’re so stupid.”
Pam schools Bill: “This is not just about your relationship, you infatuated tween.”
Eric is grossed out by Bill: “I don’t like being touched.”
Eric kills a random: “Is there blood in my hair?”
Eric chats about marriage: “To have and to hold. To love and to cherish. To blah blah blah blah.”
Spitting out your O-Neg in a fit of giggles? Thought so!
I was a little disappointed by the lines they used for this article…I can think of tons better lines than these!! Like Eric’s line about Bill’s stamina not being up to snuff and Pam asking Sookie if they were going to join a book club and the list goes on and on…
New Alexander Skarsgard Magazine Cover via examiner.com
True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard, who works out twice day while shooting the HBO vampire series, oozes studly charm and sex appeal on the February 2012 cover of August Man.
The strapping 6’4″ Alex makes an effort to pump up his physique in order to play up vampire Eric Northman‘s predatory, hyper-masculine personality.
“Alex wasn’t quite right for Bill, but I remember that he was giant and also beautiful,” said Ball. “So when it came time to cast Eric, I thought of him.”
Skarsgard wants to expand his acting horizons and avoid being typecast as an Alpha Male.
“Everyone wants me to play Herr Northman from True Blood in a movie with a different name,” says Alexander, 35. “That’s fun to do, but you want to balance that out.”
Despite his meteoric rise to fame, Skarsgard insists he’s just a regular guy who tries to maintain the proper perspective on fame and success.
“It freaked me out to be talked about in magazines or on television,” Alex reveals. “It made me feel insecure and nervous.
“It’s really hard to find the right balance, and the only way to do it is to be the guy you are, and never forget where you come from.”
Season 5 of True Blood premieres in summer 2012.
“[Eric is] a hunter,” Skarsgård has said. “He knows how strong he is, how powerful he is, and he really enjoys that. He enjoys seeing fear in people’s eyes.”
‘Alex Was Giant and Beautiful’
Interestingly, Alexander had originally sought the role of vampire Bill Compton (which eventually went to Stephen Moyer), but producer Alan Ball had other ideas after seeing Skarsgård.
