Halloween may be over, but the holiday spirit rages on into November with the announcement that the haunted board game “Ouija,” previously reported as an adaptation-in-the-making exclusively on MTV, now has some high-profile writing talents locked down for the script. The sudden momentum probably has something to do with that awesome scene in “Paranormal Activity” in which a demon-operated board catches fire.
Universal has hired “Tron Legacy” and “Lost” writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to pen the adaptation, according to an update in The Hollywood Reporter.
Typically, this is the kind of news that is met with an instant head-smack on my part. I’m all for the concept of “Ouija” — several creepy childhood memories of the game stick with me to this very day — but a film version based on the game sounds about as tacky as “Jumanji.”
“Wait a minute here, Wigler,” cry the masses. “‘Jumanji’ was awesome, and that movie didn’t even have ghosts!”
For those not in the know, Ouija boards are allegedly used as a communication bridge between the mortal and spirit worlds. A group of friends hold a looking glass-like pointer over the board, and a ghostly spirit then moves it to spell out certain words and sentences. More often than not, it’s a very creepy experience. Or some joker with a good poker face.

Jumanji was a good movie! I’ve never played with things like this, but if they are planing to do a movie thay must have a good story in hands. What do you think about this? Will it be a good ghost/game movie?
