The beautiful Valkyrie, Myst, watches from her prison cell in the castle dungeon as the Forbearers (humans turned vampire) attack. And, with the help of one handsome dirty fighter, Wroth, they take Ivo’s castle!
And, when Wroth pays her a visit she leaves a lasting impression that leads to having her brought up to his chambers. As, she awaits rescue from her sisters, Wroth’s heart starts beating; a sign that he has found his Bride and all the power she will bring him. But then her sisters show up, and she leaves him in a state of arousal that only his Bride can cure him of.
After five years, of hell dealing with his lust that can’t be relieved, Wroth finally finds Myst once again. He is determined to make her pay for what she has put him through, but his heart quickly softens for the one person he is meant to protect. But can he ever overcome Myst’s desire to flee? Valkyries and Vampires are natural enemies, can this unlikely duo ever make things work or will they only find more ways to use one another?
I’ve heard good things about this series, and decided to give it a try, even though I wasn’t convinced it was my kind of book. But I apparently was wrong. It was exactly my kind of book!
This is a novella that was originally published in the anthology, Playing Easy to Get. It was a swift easy read that I quickly ate up in a day!
I was actually surprised with Wroth’s character most of all. When I read the synopsis and saw the title, I assumed that he’d be a domineering jerk, but he really wasn’t. Not at all. He was pretty sweet and caring throughout most of the book, even when he possessed the item that would allow him to command Myst’s every move.
I also found the idea of the vampire finding their mate or Bride making their heart and lungs work, along with making their blood course through their veins to be an interesting concept. No way for a wannabe cheater to hide his marital status, I suppose!
The sex scenes light the pages on fire. This book isn’t for the faint of heart, or those that like to keep their books PG. But if you like a lot of steamy sex scenes, then you will love this book! These two can hardly keep their hands (or other body parts) off each other, and it kept me nice and warm on a snowy day!
The Warlord Wants Forever is a promising start to this series and, I’m now adding the rest of the books to my to-read list and I can’t wait to dive in!
