Synopsis:
When Jordie Bennet and Shaw Kinnard lock eyes across a disreputable backwater bar, something definitely sparks. Shaw gives off a dangerous vibe that makes men wary and inspires women to sit up and take notice. None feel that undercurrent more strongly than savvy businesswoman Jordie, who doesn’t belong in a seedy dive on the banks of a bayou. But here she is . . . and Shaw Kinnard is here to kill her.
As Shaw and his partner take aim, Jordie is certain her time has come. But Shaw has other plans and abducts Jordie, hoping to get his hands on the $30 million her brother has stolen and, presumably, hidden. However, Shaw is not the only one looking for the fortune. Her brother’s ruthless boss and the FBI are after it as well. Now on the run from the feds and a notorious criminal, Jordie and Shaw must rely on their wits-and each other-to stay alive.
Miles away from civilization and surrounded by swampland, the two play each other against their common enemies. Jordie’s only chance of survival is to outwit Shaw, but it soon becomes clear to Shaw that Jordie isn’t entirely trustworthy, either. Was she in on her brother’s scam, or is she an innocent pawn in a deadly vendetta? And just how valuable is her life to Shaw, her remorseless and manipulative captor? Burning for answers-and for each other-this unlikely pair ultimately make a desperate move that could be their last.
With nonstop plot twists and the tantalizing sexual tension that has made Sandra Brown one of the world’s best-loved authors, STING will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final pages.

Review:
I have read many books written by this author, stating when I was much younger. I have really never read a book of her’s that I have not really enjoyed. This is true of this book too. This book has everything I look for in a suspense mystery: great characters, suspense, romance and tension. In my opinion, you can never go wrong reading a book by this author.
When Jordie Bennett walks into a shady bar, she never imagines that her life will take such an unexpected turn. When she finds herself being kidnapped by another patron in the bar, she is dumbfounded. She will need to use all of her smarts and survival instincts if she ever hopes to get out of this dangerous situation. And she will have to decide if her kidnapper, Shaw, is all bad or if he has some positive qualities that she can trust. I do not want to get too involved in the plot or give away any spoilers, so I am not going to say anymore about the plot. Except to say that this book will take you on a rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathless.
The characters are well developed, well rounded and three dimensional. Jordie is a strong willed no nonsense type of woman. She has to overcome her family background, so she has to be tough. Shaw is a hired killer who has a heart. Reading about the time on the run of these two was exciting and nerve wracking.
This author is very talented in her character development and they are never exactly what they seem to be. They are complex, believable and people you have an opinion about, good or bad.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and through much of the book, I felt like I was right there, watching the action taking place. Sometimes I felt like I needed to duck to avoid a flying bullet. That is a very positive response to have when reading a book.
This author is also very talented in suspense writing. She is able to build tension and anxiety with just the written word. Whenever reading one of her books, I know to expect the unexpected and that nothing is really as it seems. That is exactly what I want to happen when I am reading a suspense mystery. I found myself in a bit of a predicament. I wanted to keep turning pages as fast as I could because I needed to know what would happen next. But I also found myself reluctant to turn the pages because I was afraid of what would happen next.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted suspenseful read. If you are already a fan of this author, then this is a must read. If this is a new author to you, give the book a try. You will see why Sandra Brown is one of the top authors in this genre.
