Chapter Seven: Revelations Over Chopped Liver

Alexia and Lord Maccon are still tangled in a heated embrace upon the couch when they both hear commotion outside the door. A woman’s voice arguing with the butler Floote then someone proceeds to knock on the parlor door. Alexia quickly jumps off of Lord Maccon’s lap and straightens out her clothes. Lord Maccon does the same. The door bursts open suddenly with both Ivy Hisselpenny and Professor Lyall standing in the doorway.

Ivy walks in and excitedly asks Alexia if she knew there was a BUR werewolf out in her hallway because she found him arguing with her butler when she came over for tea. She thought they were going to fight. She wants to know why a BUR werewolf would be interested in Alexia and why was Floote so determined to keep him out of the parlor. Ivy finally notices Lord Maccon and quickly shuts up.

Chapter Eight: Backyard Shenanigans

Alexia’s mother and sisters and step-father return from their shopping trip. Squire Loontwill retreats to his office with a glass of cognac and says no one is to disturbed him. Felicity, Evylin and Mrs. Loontwill greet Ivy and decide to show off their purchases. Mrs. Loontwill asks Ivy if she will be attending the Almack’s ball. Alexia becomes annoyed with her mother since she knows her mother is looking down on Ivy for not having as much wealth as they do. She snaps at her mother and remarks what type of dress she will be wearing, one of her usual style which is usually suited for someone half her age. Mrs. Loontwill becomes angry and punishes Alexia be confining her to the house and telling her she will not be allowed to attend the Almack nor the duchess party the next evening. She leaves the room. Felicity is happy and tells Alexia the dress her mother had chosen was one that is very low cut and pink. Ivy reprimands Alexia for speaking to her mother in such a manner. Evylin says someone should since she believes her mother is going to ruin their chances at being able to find husbands. Floote walks in brining tea for the ladies. Alexia asks him to send a card to Auntie Augustina for the following evening. Evylin and Felicity look curious because they know they do not have an Auntie Augustina but don’t really care what Alexia is talking about. Ivy looks at Alexia wanting to know what she is up to. Alexia just smiles. Evylin and Felicity discuss the new jewelry in town for a bit and Ivy excuses herself to leave.
