Summary:
Jacob gives Bella an orientation of the motorcycle with particular emphasis on how to use the brakes.  He helps her get it started and she gets going.  She hears Edward’s voice and is startled and loses her grip on the clutch.  The bike falls over with her.  She hears the voice again.  Bella realizes that there’s no déjà vu, so it must be a different trigger.  She thinks that maybe adrenaline and danger – maybe just stupidity must be the trigger.

Bella is ready to go again.  This time she kick-starts the bike, revs the throttle and hears the voice.  She takes off, approaches a curve and realizes that she doesn’t know how to turn.  She hits the footbrake (the one Jacob told her not to use) and wipes out.  As Jacob frees her from the bike, she realizes her recipe for a hallucination: adrenaline + danger + stupidity = hallucination.  Bella is ready to go again and Jacob alerts her to the fact that she has a huge cut on her forehead and she’s gushing blood.  Bella apologizes (for bleeding) and presses against the cut.  Jacob insists on taking her to the hospital.  He takes off his shirt and gives it to Bella to soak up the blood pouring out of her head.  Jacob loads up the bikes and Bella gets in the truck.  Bella talks Jacob into taking her home to change clothes before they go to the ER to keep Charlie from finding out what they were doing.
