Never Ceese by Sue Dent
Chapter 11 by
Richard, out searching for fresh blood, stumbles across the body of a dead goat and follows the scent. Not long after, a gunshot rings out and Richard proceeds cautiously. He approaches cautiously and finds a wolf lying on the ground. Assuming it must be Ceese, he now recalls the sound of his front door closing after the conversation with Mama about silver bullets. Trying to examine the wound, the dying wolf bites at his hand. Annoyed, Richard says “fine die then”, but Ceese turns up informing that the wolf doesn’t understand him.
Richard asks if Long Tail, the wolf, is dying. Ceese realizes that Richard is hungry and probably wants the poor animal’s blood. Richard says that Long Tail might make it, but Ceese says that the pack would kill him anyway.
