This week it’s two movies that are complete opposites. On one end, you have a biblical thriller with violence and on the other, a family fantasy about a big man who is stuck in a bad nightmare as the tooth fairy.
Legion (Nationwide)
Action, Supernatural Thriller (R)
(From comingsoon.net) In the supernatural action thriller “Legion,” an out-of-the-way diner becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race.
When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity’s only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany).
Tooth Fairy (Nationwide)
Comedy, Family, Fantasy (PG)
(From comingsoon.net) Dwayne Johnson is “The Tooth Fairy,” also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster’s hopes, he’s sentenced to one week’s hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek “can’t handle the tooth” – bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers’ homes…doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.
“The Rock” is a pretty funny guy so I imagine that if you have kids ‘The Tooth Fairy’ is going to be good. Nothing like watching an ex-wrestler get beat up by little kids?
Legion also looks good; it’s violent enough to not be preaching to me about the Bible, but that’s not to say it isn’t a Christian film though. With heavy context on human sins, man’s last hope, and bad boy angels this looks to be a good balance between thriller and religion. From the fight scenes I have seen we can expect some pretty cool winged battles as well as straight up fun.
Are you interested in seeing either of these films? Why or why not?
