Ryan Kwanten is moving on from vampires to a true life monster.
NBC reports that the True Blood stud has signed on to play serial-murder mastermind Charles Manson in an upcoming film titled The Family. Kwanten made the announcement while promoting his latest movie, the nouveau spaghetti western Red Hill.
Though the project is still in the early planning stages, Kwanten revealed that director Brad Anderson (The Machinist) is also attached to the film.
Manson is currently serving a life sentence for orchestrating several murders in the Southern California region in the late ’60s, including that of actress Sharon Tate.

MJ’s Thriller to Become A Movie?
Via: Cnn
With all of the zombies and werewolves in Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video, it certainly wouldn’t look out of place in today’s cineplex.
According to Deadline.com, the late superstar’s estate is in negotiations to turn his spooky classic into a movie.
Kenny Ortega, who directed Jackson’s 2009 posthumous tour film “This Is It”, is set to helm the project, while “Hangover” writer Jeremy Garelick is expected to pen the script.
Though plot details are hush-hush, Deadline.com reports that the movie will likely be based on the hit 1984 song’s scary folklore, including late horror master Vincent Price – who narrated the tune – and the town he grew up in.

Super 8 Gets a June 2011 Release Date
Via: Thewrap
Paramount will release J.J. Abrams’ secretive sci-fi movie “Super 8” on June 10, 2011, the studio announced on Wednesday.
The decision pits the special effects-driven blockbuster against Universal’s action sequel “Fast Five” and Warner Bros.’ “Something Borrowed,” the romantic comedy from “The Girl Next Door” director Luke Greenfield that I hear is coming together quite nicely in the editing room and could prove to be one of next year’s biggest surprises.
The “Fast and Furious” sequel adds Dwayne Johnson to the macho mix this time around, but while box office figures may indicate otherwise, I sense that the franchise may be running out of gas. Regardless, with a box office battle brewing, I expect “Super 8” to win the weekend, though “Something Borrowed” will challenge both films as a solid option for female audiences.
Steven Spielberg is producing “Super 8” with Abrams and his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk.

First Look At New Captain America
Source: EW
For fans of superhero movies, the most patriotic holiday on next year’s calendar won’t fall on July 4th, but exactly 18 days later. That’s when Paramount Pictures will release Captain America: The First Avenger, a big budget adaptation of the Marvel Comics shield-bearing super-soldier. The new issue of Entertainment Weekly offers your first look at star Chris Evans in the hero’s red, white and blue threads — but you can get a peek at the man in uniform right here, right now. Our story also brings you to the set of the London-based production, directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman, October Sky). During a break in shooting, Evans — on his second tour of Marvel duty, having played the Human Torch in Fox’s Fantastic Four films — explained he was reluctant to accept the call of Captain America, in part because he had already portrayed a Marvel-ous mystery man. Of course, he also worried about the potential cost of failure, but he also worried the potential cost of fame should the movie be a hit.

I don’t know why but I have always been slightly fanisnated with Charles Manson, I’ve seen all sorts of shows on him. It will be cool to see Ryan try something new and play a total mad man. I have no idea what to think about the Thriller movie, lol.
What did you think of todays news? Will Ryan play a good Charles Manson? Is making Thriller a movie a good idea?
