Tim Robbins plays villain’s dad in “Green Lantern”

Robbins will play Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of the movie’s villain, Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), who becomes infused with psychic powers.

Ryan Reynolds stars as Green Lantern, with Blake Lively as the hero’s love interest, Carol Ferris.

The movie is heading to a March start in New Orleans. Martin Campbell is directing the Warner Bros. project.

Sci-fi adaptation of “Moby Dick” filming in Utah

Park City based Distributor Koan Inc. in connection with Metrodome Distribution and Executive Producer Joe Pia will begin filming this week on a live action thriller based on Herman Melville’s 19th century classic, “Moby Dick.”

Danny Glover (“Lethal Weapon,” “2012”) and Vinnie Jones (“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” “X-Men: The Last Stand”) will star in “Dragon Fire,” also with executive producers Gil Aglaure, Peter Urie, and producer Steven A. Lee.

Soderbergh Infects A-List Actors Damon And Winslet In New Outbreak Film

Steven Soderbergh must be awfully excited about his infectious new film Contagion. The director has pushed this flick to the top of his to-do list and snagged some of Hollywood’s most prominent actors for his “Traffic meets Outbreak” feature.

The Playlist is reporting that Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard have all been cast in the new Soderbergh film Contagion.

HUGE Superman news: Supes to get Dark Knighted?

Warner Brothers is going to try to reboot its Superman franchise yet again, but the big news is that they’re enlisting the man who turned Batman into one of the biggest movies of all time: The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.

According to Deadline Hollywood:

Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a “godfather” role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan’s leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. .
