Photos: The Crazies In-Store Signing
by Rob G at Shock til You Drop
In anticipation of next week’s release of The Crazies, director Breck Eisner dropped by Dark Delicacies over in Burbank earlier this afternoon to sign theatrical posters. Actors Brett Wagner (far left) and Tahmus Rounds (middle) just happened to be in town and dropped by to join Eisner for the event.
If you’re a Dark Delicacies regular, then you’ve probably heard that they’re moving shortly and have opened up an auction to help raise funds for the move. Up for bids? Everything from dinner with writer Steve Niles to an original autographed Evil Dead companion to (get this) having Thomas Jane deliver you a pizza.

Four Movies We’d Love To See Quentin Tarantino Direct
by Amber Wojcek at Star Pulse
This Oscar season, Quentin Tarantino has earned himself both a Best Director and Best Writer nomination for his work on “Inglourious Basterds,” which is up for a total of 8 Oscars, including Best Picture. Despite the common criticism of strong violence and language ever present in his films, each movie release seems to just solidify Tarantino’s place as one of the greatest directors of all time. Following the newest wave of success of Basterds, perhaps Tarantino could try his hand at taking over already-established franchises? Here are four movies we would love to see Quentin Tarantino direct.
Speed Racer: In 2008, The Wachowski Brothers’ playful live-action adaptation of the 1960s Japanese anime Speed Racer sadly did not receive much praise from critics – or the box office. Though the target audience was probably families and children, the theaters were often full of young twenty-somethings excited to see their childhood love brought to the big screen (the show was in re-runs in the early ’90’s on MTV).

Interview: Johnny Depp on ALICE IN WONDERLAND, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, DARK SHADOWS and More!
by Christina Radish at iesb.net
At the film’s press day, Johnny Depp talked about taking on yet another landmark literary character and developing a uniquely memorable performance as the Mad Hatter.
Q: This is now your 7th film with Tim Burton. When he came to you and told you that he wanted you to play the Mad Hatter, what was your reaction? Why did you want to play that character?
Johnny: To be honest, he could have said he wanted me to play Alice and I would have. I would done whatever character Tim wanted. But, certainly, the fact that it was the Mad Hatter was a bonus because of the great challenge to try to find this guy and not just be a rubber ball you heave into an empty room and watch it bounce all over the place. I wanted to find that part of the character, but also a little bit more of the history and gravity to that.

Why Johnny Depp changed his mind about Pirates 4
by Fred Topel at Sci Fi Wire
Wow, that Dick Cook, former chairman of Walt Disney Studios, must be one persuasive guy. Johnny Depp, who had committed to play Captain Jack Sparrow for a fourth time back while Cook was still top dog at Disney, told the press that his enthusiasm for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides had waned once Cook resigned.
But now Depp is fully committed again as the film gears up for production this summer. Why? Was it something the new chairman, Richard Ross, told him that restored his confidence? Nope. Depp revealed it was a conversation he had with Cook after his resignation that turned things around.
