‘JONAH HEX’ HEADED FOR RE-SHOOTS

While we’re on the subject of John Malkovich, Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have scheduled 10 days of “reshoots” on Jonah Hex and they’re bringing him back this month, along with Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, and Michael Fassbender.

Additional work on the DC Comics adaptation has been rumored for a few months, but THR’s Heat Vision Blog learned 12 additional script pages are being added soon.

Curiously, director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) has been brought in as a consultant.  Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who) will stay the helmer in his first live-action feature, already a replacement for Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor early on.  WB is still using the duo’s script, which Brolin once called “awful.”

RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE COMING 2010 AFTER ALL

Good news for Resident Evil fans! The fourth film in the series, Resident Evil: Afterlife, will be making it to theatres this year instead of 2011 as previously reported.

According to STYD “things are back on track for Resident Evil: Afterlife to be released not on September 24th as originally slated, but two weeks earlier on September 10th!”

The recipe is simple — just please give us zombies and monsters causing chaos in 3D. That’s all we ask!

RAIMI AND MAGUIRE LEAVE SPIDER-MAN 4

Well, you didn’t need spider-sense to see this one coming. After a week dogged by rumours that Sam Raimi was at loggerheads with Sony over Spider-Man 4, the studio has just announced that they are shelving the Raimi-directed Spider-Man franchise, with a view to completely rebooting the character in 2012.

The reboot, which will be scripted by James Vanderbilt, will return Peter Parker to his high school/drippy teen origins, as he comes into very close contact with a radioactive spider.

Sony issued the following statement, from Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, just minutes ago: A decade ago we set out on this journey with Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire and together we made three “Spider-Man’ films that set a new bar for the genre.

‘DUNE ADAPTATION WILL BE VERY RESPECTFUL TO THE ORIGINAL NOVEL, SAYS PIERRE MOREL

Ever since he landed the role of “Dune” director last week all eyes have been on high-octane “Taken” filmmaker Pierre Morel. On Monday, the red-hot filmmaker called us from Paris and filled MTV News in on his plans for a spice-filled reinvention.

“As a David Lynch movie, I loved it,” he said of the 1984 “Dune” adaptation by the famously trippy “Twin Peaks” filmmaker. “As a ‘Dune’ fan, I was not such a big fan.”

Instead, Morel plans on taking his movie in a very different direction – and back to the roots of the groundbreaking 1965 book that is reportedly the best-selling sci-fi novel of all time.

“Oh my God yes, I’ve been a fan of that book – because I will not refer to the movie – I’ve been a fan of the book since I was a teenager. I read that when I was 15, maybe,” Morel said.

Sound like Jonah Hex could be in trouble. What do you think?

I don’t know about 3-D, but I will definitely be seeing the fourth installment. Milla Jovovich kicks some good zombie butt. Are you a Resident Evil fan?

These teaser posters are surely working to build the hype about ‘The Crazies’.  It’s on my list of must-see movies.  All the posters in general, remind me of ‘The Hills Have Eyes’. Will you be seeing ‘The Crazies’?

Hmmm…Spider-Man without Maguire and Raimi…I’d like to see how they they pull this off.  Are you surprised that they pulled out of the film?

Are you a fan of Dune?
