HARRY Potter star Sir Michael Gambon has admitted that he has not read JK Rowling’s hit books about the wizard.
The actor, 68 – who plays Professor Dumbledore – said he avoids reading books before appearing in screen adaptions to avoid disappointment.
He said: “I’ve been in five Harry Potter films and never read a Harry Potter book.
“If you are an actor all you have is the script.
“If you read the book you might get disappointed about what’s left out – well, that’s my excuse.”
He said he had not read Jane Austen – and is currently filming a BBC series on her novel Emma.
I’m surprised that he has never even read the first one. I would think he’d want to see what all the fuss is about, even if he never finished it. But I guess if that’s his system, it works for him. He does play the part of Dumbledore very well, I couldn’t ask for a better Dumbledore.
What do you think? Should he read the books?
