A Beautiful Dark
Review brought to you by OBS staff member Autumn
On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine. Review:
“A Beautiful Dark” is one of those books that when you finish reading it; you want to immediately find someone else that has read it to talk about it. The story presents such classic questions as light vs. dark, order vs. chaos and head vs. heart.
The heroine, Skye, is as unique as her name. She is strong, determined and a bit set in her ways. Until two cousins appear suddenly in her small town and they both intrigue and frighten her. They have knowledge of her past and her future, a future that can only follow one path. That path will either free or destroy them all.
Jocelyn Davies’ prose keeps the reader engaged with every word and sketches her story with an emotion that is tangible.
I would highly recommend this book to all fans of young adult paranormal and was so excited to find that there is a sequel already planned called “A Fractured Light.” It already is on my list of books to watch out for.
