Katniss’d and Famished: Beefing Up Romance in The Hunger Games Movie Leaves Us Starved For More via Seattle Pi
The new Life & Style story on The Hunger Games stirred up a debate in the fandom of the bestseller books which are now being adapted for Hollywood by Lionsgate.
“In their story, L&S reports that to make the first movie a bit more interesting, “scenes have been added in to give the heartthrob a larger role on-screen and make the love triangle steamier and a bigger aspect early on in the franchise.””
This is quite an unwelcome news. The Hunger Games is not the next Twilight, as most media have assumed. The romantic element of the books is only a part of Katniss Everdeen’s life, most of which is being the face of the rebellion that will bring the tyrant government down and a beaten girl trying to keep her family alive. These books are about survival and facing tough situations with grit and determination.

What to call fans of ‘The Hunger Games’? The debate begins via The Hunger Games Examiner
You have Potterheads and Twihards, but what the heck does one call a fan of The Hunger Games? That’s the debate going on right now amongst fans of the best-selling book series by Suzanne Collins.
Earlier this week, E! Online’s Ted Casablanca dubbed fans “Jabberjays” — a term most fans took an immediate dislike towards, for two reasons. Firstly, because in the books, the Jabberjays were a creature bred by the Capitol for nefarious ends — and secondly, because fans didn’t want Ted Casablanca dubbing them anything.
Now, fans have taken matters into their own hands.
Multiple fan sites for The Hunger Games are now asking their readers to submit suggestions and vote on which names they should use to refer to themselves.

I love the way District 12 looks. And I’m excited that they’re filming so fast! And if they’re moving to forest, I wonder if they’re shooting Gale and Katniss’ hunting scenes or if they’re starting the Games? I hate that they’re beefing up the romance aspect of the books though. It’s really only important in book 2, and adding it now will take away from the rest of the story. As for the fandom name, I like “Tributes”.
What did you think of the pictures? Do you like that there’s going to be more romance? What do you think fans should be called?
