What we know so-far about the ‘The Hunger Games’ movie sequel, ‘Catching Fire’ via Examiner
Fans of The Hunger Games series rejoiced Monday when Lionsgate announced it would be releasing the second movie in the franchise, Catching Fire, on November 22, 2013.
As the excitement over this news settles, fans want to know more — and of course, Lionsgate isn’t saying anything quite yet.
It’s also uncertain if Gary Ross will return as director. As with many franchises, such as Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga, directors change hand between movies.
With the announcement that Catching Fire would be released in November 2013, this leaves one possibility open regarding Mockingjay, the third and final book in the series: the final movie could be split into two parts.

The Hunger Games Examiner has put together a gallery of all of the official pictures from the movie (so far), including Entertainment Weekly shots.
I imagine it will be updated as often as pictures are released, so check back.

Peeta Mellark Will Have Brown Eyes in ‘Hunger Games’ Film via Mockingjay.net
Fans squinting and speculating about the color of Peeta’s eyes in the upcoming film adaptation can stop speculating and start flaming because after examining some hi-resolution photos from Lionsgate, we’re pretty certain his eyes are in fact brown. Unless they alter the color of his eyes in post production, I’d say this is confirmation! Kimmy and I weigh in on the change:
Crystal: I’m more bothered by the hair than the eye color. People can cite mud all they want, but his hair looks relatively clean and yet still brown to me.

‘Catching Fire’: Who Should Play Finnick Odair? via MTV News
Sure, “The Hunger Games” doesn’t hit theaters until March 23, 2012, but it’s never too early to begin thinking about its sequel, “Catching Fire,” is it? Especially since Lionsgate announced just yesterday that the follow-up will set Thanksgiving 2013 ablaze.
[Catching Fire] also introduces us to a slew of memorable new characters, including one of my personal favorites, District 4 victor Finnick Odair.
Full disclosure: Long before Liam Hemsworth was cast as Katniss’ hunting buddy Gale Hawthorne, he was my perfect Finnick. Tall, tan, blond and muscular? Yeah, sounds like a certain Aussie I know.

I sort of agree with the MTV author; I picture a younger Chris Hemsworth (Liam’s older brother) as Finnick. Chris was in the beginning of the new Star Trek movie as Kirk’s father, and he’s perfect there. And I’m less concerned with Peeta’s eyes than his hair. They could have tried a little harder to make him blond. I’m excited that we know the release date for Catching Fire now, but I don’t like that they’re considering splitting up Mockingjay. It’s the same length as the first two books; and there is a lot that can be cut. At least with Deathly Hallows and Breaking Dawn they could justify making two because of the length, splitting Mockingjay is just greedy.
Are you excited to have a release date for Catching Fire? What do you think of the pictures so far? Who do you think should play Finnick?
