Sarah Strohmeyer has written many books about female protagonists became the best possible versions of themselves. This is my playlist for her latest novel, How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True.
Synopsis:
When cousins Zoe and Jess land summer internships at the Fairyland Kingdom theme park, they are sure they’ve hit the jackpot. With perks like hot Abercrombie-like Prince Charmings and a chance to win the coveted $25,000 Dream & Do grant, what more could a girl want?
Once Zoe arrives, however, she’s assigned to serve “The Queen”-Fairyland’s boss from hell. From spoon-feeding her evil lapdog caviar, to fetching midnight sleeping tonics, Zoe fears she might not have what it takes to survive the summer, much less win the money.
Soon backstabbing interns, a runaway Cinderella, and cutthroat competition make Zoe’s job more like a nightmare than a fairy tale. What will happen when Zoe is forced to choose between serving The Queen and saving the prince of her dreams? (Goodreads)
- White Horse by Taylor Swift
“This ain’t a fairytale” perfectly shows Zoe’s thoughts. She’s living a living nightmare slaving away to her boss. However, she stands her ground and rocks it.
- Daydreamer by Paramore
I think the official music video shows perfectly the excitement at the park. It’s a beatuful combination of chaos.
- Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran
Give Me Love is a wonderfully magical song. The magic of any amusement park is like it.
- Team by Lorde
Fairyland Kingdom employees are part of a team. Well, some of them at least. Hence the choice for this song. Lorde is the newest sensation, and I’m going to be a part of it.
- A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella
Zoe dreams, Zoe wishes. Cinderella was chosen because of the fairytale idea and also because I love Disney to the extremes!
- Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty
See above. I recently watched Sleeping Beauty, so this song is stuck in my head. There’s something about princesses that is unmatchable.
- Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney
Some people like Zoe have a beautiful soul. I feel so creepy saying that but…
Jesse McCartney describes this perfectly, and I love the similarity.
