Review:

I found the base story engaging.  However, at times I found the writing style not to my liking and then out of the blue – I would be totally engaged again.

I liked when Henrietta came upon the tavern with its unique building design. Henrietta wondered

Was the tavern trying to be a castle, or a castle trying to be a tavern?  Its ambiguity pleased her.”

I found this thought making me like Henrietta even more.

The writing at times had me wondering, but the introduction to the main character, Henrietta was good. Had me definitely chuckling at one of Henrietta’s sayings….

In for a beer, in for a bed, she liked to say.”

Henrietta’s story-telling was filled with humor and excitement, keeping her audience captivated.  This is what I liked best about this short story.

I got the sense that the continuing story would be worth pursuing…Something I shall consider at a later date.  But as this prequel stands, I would definitely not classify it as a stand alone.  As a teaser, mission accomplished.
