Review

Grave is the youngest of the four Kings who run Vegas. He’s the most out-of-control king too, always living his life on the edge. They do call him Grave for a reason. He’s always seemed to have a death wish. Partying, drugs, girls, racing, fighting, you name it, he does it.
“I feel alive when I’m closest to death.”
Grave’s reckless ways started at a young age. He was never good enough for his father, who always preferred his older brother, Bones. And, it only got worse when his mom died and he was reminded just how little his father actually cared for her. Grave no longer cared what anyone thought of him and kind of enjoyed pissing everyone off.
Bones has been trying to get Grave into rehab for a while, but Grave refuses and does what he can to keep his perpetual party rolling.
Then, he walks into a florist’s shop and meets her. April. His new favorite month of the year. Now he will do anything for a chance to be with her. He’s finding himself not needing the drugs or alcohol or random hook-ups. He just wants her, his new addiction.
“I’ve always had a death wish, but for once I have something to live for.”
But will their new budding romance be enough to save them when things get difficult and Grave’s recent past comes calling?
I actually loved Grave. I liked his take no shit attitude toward … well … everyone. And, I liked that he truly did have deep-rooted emotions in a world that didn’t allow for feelings. He was so sweet with April, in the beginning, and I loved seeing his softer side.
Of course, it all goes to crap, and he eventually has to face his own demons if he ever wants a true chance with his girl.
This book was a fast and enjoyable read. My only complaint is that the epilogue was way too short, and that I just wanted more time seeing Grave be happy! I think he may be my favorite king now, and I really hope we get to see more of him in the books after this one.
