Synopsis:

Kara is a single mom working hard to keep life running smoothly for herself and her son, but a custody battle is wearing her down. When her friend suggests asking a JAG officer for some unofficial advice, Kara agrees—and soon finds herself officially head over heels…

As a Judge Advocate, Graham has seen his share of nasty custody disputes—and he plans on keeping his distance from this one. But this purposeful, passionate woman has a way of drawing him ever closer to the edge. And when Kara’s ex starts to throw his weight around, Graham will have to choose between toeing the line or stepping into the ring…

Review:

I wasn’t sure I would like this book when I started to read it but by the second chapter Jeanette Murray had done her usual and hooked me in with the characters and plot.

Graham knows that Kara is the one for him and as he gets to know her and her severely allergic son he sees her for the strong, passionate, mother and independent woman she has become. Convincing her that she is worth the love of another person, and, to trust seems to be an all time job. When Kara does open up to Graham, he only knows that he will protect and love her at all cost. After all fighting is his hobby but Kara is his future. As he prepares for the marine boxing championship he knows what he must do and how to go about it.

Kara has been on her own since she was 18 years old. Her son is her life and the custody battle is a fight she has to win. Graham’s love is something she just hasn’t got the energy for as she feels it will go nowhere and it might jeopardize what she is trying to achieve. She knows what she feels for Graham but when he oversteps his bounds she wonders if she can trust him with not only her future but that of her son. The boy truly looks up to Graham and tells his mother frequently that she is not giving the relationship a chance.

The chemistry between Kara and Graham is undeniable however the reader frequently wonders if it is enough to sustain the relationship. Again, friendships are the base of good relationships.

With a good story and good character development Jeanette Murray drew me into an setting I was not entirely comfortable with.  I found in the end I was smiling and telling myself to look out for other books in this same series.
